Secondary Education

Overview

The secondary education program comprises a sequence of courses in teacher education and a set of General Education Requirements, and the major. The General Education Requirements of the Education Department may be used, in part, to satisfy the UMBC General Foundation Requirements. Secondary students should see their education adviser for further information about courses to be taken in their major. Our Mission The UMBC Department of Education seeks to advance teaching and learning through our integration of research and collaboration with others for the benefit of our diverse society. The Department of Education offers both graduate and undergraduate programs leading to certification in a variety of content areas. Faculty members are committed to preparing future educators by sharing their varied backgrounds and experiences in policy, practice, and major content disciplines.
