Biography
Ms. Doaa Rashed is the Director of the MA TESOL Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). In this position she administers the different program tracks; MA, TESOL Certificate, and K-12 Certification, as well as teaches courses in the TESOL Program. She also coordinates the program international partnership initiatives with universities in Russia, Peru and Ecuador.

Ms Rashed has taught courses in Second Language Acquisition, Language Assessment and Evaluation, and Instructional Systems Development. She currently teaches courses in Teaching Grammar to ELLs, and Cross Cultural Communication. Her previous teaching experiences include teaching English as a foreign language in Egypt for nine years, and English as a Second Language in the United States for another nine years.

Ms Rashed has a strong record of community service and leadership. She has been serving on the Maryland TESOL Board for over eight years in different roles as president, vice president, treasurer, and interest section chair. She has also been chairing the organizations’ strategic planning committee developing initiatives to increase the organization’s visibility among the TESOL community. Most recently, Ms. Rashed served as the Local Co-Chair in the TESOL 2016 International Convention & Expo, and she is currently a TESOL/CAPE Standards reviewer.
