Biography: 

Dr. Michele Stites is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at UMBC, where she specializes in inclusive early STEM learning, early childhood mathematics, teacher preparation, and family engagement in early childhood education.

Dr. Stites is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and has authored numerous book chapters, research briefs, and invited publications. Her scholarship explores inclusive STEM in early childhood, mathematics development in early childhood, parental academic socialization practices across cultures, and strategies to foster inclusive classroom environments. In addition to her publications, she has secured more than $4 million in funding to support research and professional development in early education. She serves as Associate Editor of the Early Childhood Education Journal and contributes to advisory and editorial boards that influence early education policy and practice nationally and internationally.

She earned her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from The George Washington University, and her M.Ed. and B.S. from the University of Maryland.
